Intel WiDi (Intel Wireless Display) - Free software for wirelessly transferring an image from a PC or laptop display to any WiDi-compatible device (smartphone, computer, TV, media console). Works on Windows 7 and later versions. Russian language is not implemented in the application, but even without it an average user will have no problem to understand the system.
Properties of the application
The technical requirements for the program Intel WiDi for Windows are as follows:
- Intel 4th or newer generation processor (with integrated Intel HD4400 graphics or newer);
- an Intel network adapter that supports WiDi (to check if a particular WiFi-adapter supports this technology, you can visit the official Intel website - there is a current list of compatible wireless modules);
- the device that "receives" the image also supports WiDi function (indicated on the packaging).
Another trick: It only works if you have a Intel video card integrated with the processor in Windows. If a discrete GPU is used, the wireless screen shot will not work.
The data transfer is performed via a WiFi module, so both devices should have the adapter enabled.
Who needs it and how to use it
After installing the program just launch it and it will automatically search for compatible devices in the visible area. Then you only need to choose where to send the signal to and enter the access code on the receiving device. In the future the image will be transferred without the necessity to re-enter the PIN-code.
The application is convenient for the laptop as it allows connecting it to the TV or projector and displaying the image without using HDMI, VGA or DVI cable. The signal delay is minimal (about 20-30 msec), the maximum possible resolution is Full HD (1920x1080 pixels).
