Wi-Fi HotSpot Creator is a free program with which you can
distribute WiFi from your PC to all the devices around it, turning it into a wireless access point. It allows you to create a network with or without password access (WPA2 encryption). And the main advantage of this application is that it works even on Windows XP (the Virtual WiFi Windows driver is not required). There is no official Russian version of Wi-Fi HotSpot Creator, but there are user plugins that add translations.
What can the program do
WiFi HotSpot Creator features:
- Create hotspot on PC or notebook with Windows 7 and later versions;
- Expand existing WiFi network coverage (repeater mode if supported by installed WiFi);
- Display statistics on connected devices (show their local IP, MAC address, current connection status).
The program allows you to set the limit for the number of connected devices. The access speed cannot be limited (it depends only on the adapter's bandwidth). The maximum allowed number of active clients is 10.
While the interface is not in Russian, it is intuitive. After launching the client only has to specify the name of the desired access point (SSID) and a password. The WAN source is selected automatically, but you can also specify it manually. Even Bluetooth modems and smartphones connected to a PC via USB are supported. The application may be added to the Windows autorun.
The created access point corresponds to the 802.11 b/g/n standard that is why there are no problems with connecting old devices to it. If the WiFi module supports
MiMO, the speed of the Internet will be up to 300 Mbit/s.
When it is useful
The application will not allow to stay without WiFi, when the router is out of order. It is also useful when you want to create a portable wireless access point (for presentations, trips to the country house). It has a minimum of settings, so even an inexperienced user can use it.
