Maltego is a program with built-in AI for collecting information about objects, people, and sites. It automatically analyzes data from all open sources of information, compares them, and displays them in the form of a convenient graph. The exact algorithm by which it works is not known (is a trade secret of the developer). Released Maltego for Linux (installation is possible via repository), Windows and MacOS. It is integrated by default into
Kali Linux.
Properties
With Maltego you can:
- collect all the information from the internet about a person, site, company, IT infrastructure element (DNS address, host, gateway, MAC address), document, file;
- find relationships between multiple entities;
- represent the whole obtained database in a convenient graphic style (diagram, chart, scheme).
And how to use the program even an inexperienced PC user can understand. After the start of the program includes a step-by-step instruction in which you must specify the available data about the object (links, name, title, phone number). After - choose what information the user wants to get. The Russian interface is not provided. But the GUI is so intuitive that there is no need in the instruction in Russian.
The program works in Java and comes in 3 editions: for offline use (CaseFile Free), free (CE Free) and professional (XL and Classic). Registration on the developer's site is required to access its full functionality.

For the most part commercial organizations use it to protect internal information from external access. The application will show which channels competitors can extract data from.
